About us
GoldUp2Date (the Gold & Silver Platform) is an independent site that shows the gold and silver price live for every karat in your currency, with practical tools for the moment before you buy, sell or pay zakat. The site does not sell gold, does not broker it and takes no commission from any jeweller or bullion dealer.
Who runs the site
The site is run by its founder from Saudi Arabia. It launched in September 2026 in Arabic first; English followed, then five more languages for readers in Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Turkey and France. The editorial team is small: a writer who follows the gold markets of Egypt and the Gulf every day, and a developer who runs the live integrations and watches the accuracy of the numbers.
Why the site exists
The idea came from a familiar experience: standing at a jeweller's counter without knowing whether the making charge is fair, selling used gold without knowing how much is deducted and why, or working out zakat on gold piece by piece, karat by karat, with the lunar year to track. Most price sites give one number with no context. We wanted a site that gives the price together with what you need to understand it: the gram price for every karat, the local units, the expected scrap price, today's nisab in your currency, and articles written in the vocabulary of the markets we cover.
How the prices are computed and how often they update
We take the world ounce price from institutional real-time feeds and convert it into a gram price per karat at the exchange rate: 24K gram = ounce ÷ 31.1035 × the dollar rate, and any karat = the 24K gram × (karat ÷ 24). The live price refreshes every few seconds during world market hours, the pages are rebuilt twice a day (Riyadh time), and the last price of each day is kept in a day-by-day archive for every country. The figures are the value of raw gold before making charges, hallmarking, tax and the dealer's margin; the full detail, including pegged exchange rates and rounding, is on the price methodology page.
What we do when we find an error (correction policy)
- We review every report within two working days and compare the displayed figure with the formula and with a second source.
- If the error is in the live data we fix its source; if it is in written text (a tax rule, a unit of weight, a regulatory detail) we correct the text and update the "last updated" date on that page.
- We do not publish a tax or regulatory statement we have not verified; what we cannot confirm is removed rather than left in.
- Outlooks and indicators are statistical readings with their method stated; they are not recommendations. We publish no investment advice and promote no dealer.
What we do not do
No user accounts, no forms that collect your data, no affiliate links to dealers. Your preferences (language, currency, theme) and your zakat portfolio, if you choose to save it, stay on your device. The site relies on advertising to cover its running costs; advertising has no influence on the figures or on what we write. Details are in the privacy policy.

For feedback, corrections and suggestions, the contact page shows our email as plain text; we usually reply within two working days. If you run a site and would like to show our prices, a free widget is ready to use.
