I seek Allah's forgiveness and I turn to Him in repentance.

Frequently asked questions
How is the price per gram for each karat calculated?
Pure gold per gram = ounce price ÷ 31.1035 × exchange rate. Any karat = the pure price × (karat ÷ 24), so 21K is 87.5% of it and 18K is 75%.
What is the nisab and rate of Zakat on gold and silver?
The gold nisab is 85 g of pure gold and the silver nisab is 595 g of pure silver. Zakat is 2.5% of market value once a full Hijri year (hawl) has passed.
Are the displayed prices final buy/sell prices?
No. They are raw gold prices only, without making charges, hallmarking or the jeweller's margin.
Is the site free, and how often do prices update?
Yes, it's free and needs no sign-up. Prices update every few seconds from the world ounce price.

What moves the gold price?
The price at the top of this page changes every few seconds, but what actually moves it is five things that have repeated for decades. The dollar first: gold is priced in dollars per ounce, so when the dollar rises against the major currencies the ounce becomes dearer for the rest of the world, demand softens and the price tends to fall; the reverse when the dollar weakens. US interest rates second: gold pays no interest, so the higher the real yield on US Treasuries, the more it pays to hold bonds rather than metal. That is why gold usually rises when the market expects rate cuts and falls when it expects hikes, and why Federal Reserve meetings are the most watched dates in a gold follower's calendar.
Inflation third: gold has long been bought as protection against money losing its value, so inflation data and oil prices lift inflation expectations and support gold, unless central banks answer with higher rates. Central banks fourth: their purchases of gold for their reserves (China, Turkey, India and the Gulf states have been among the largest buyers in recent years) are a large, steady demand that supports the price from below whatever the day's swings. Physical demand fifth: wedding seasons in India, Egypt and the Gulf, jewellery and industrial buying, and the anxiety of a geopolitical crisis that sends people into gold on the same day shares fall.
The gram price in your currency adds a sixth driver, the exchange rate: in India, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey the gram moves with the ounce and with the local dollar rate together, while in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan the gram follows the ounce alone because the currency is pegged to the dollar. That is why gold can rise in a Cairo or Karachi shop on a day the ounce did not move at all.
How do you read these drivers together? A rising dollar with rising bond yields usually means pressure on gold; a falling dollar with expected rate cuts usually means support; a sudden crisis lifts gold and the fear index on the same day. The market pulse page shows these indicators live, and the gold outlook page reads them statistically, without promises. The full explanation with examples is in the article What moves the gold price: rates, the dollar, inflation, central banks and demand.

- How the gold price per gram is calculated from the ounce price, with examples for every karatGold is priced worldwide in dollars per troy ounce, and every gram price in every currency is derived from it by one formula. We walk through it step by step with today's figures for 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K and 14K, and explain why a shop's price differs from the result.
- What moves the gold price: rates, the dollar, inflation, central banks and physical demandThe gold price does not move at random; five main drivers explain most of its movement: the dollar, US interest rates and the real yield, inflation, central-bank buying, and physical demand from jewellery and crises. We explain each driver with examples from recent years and how to read them together.
- 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K, 14K and 9K explained: purity, uses and which karat to buyA karat is the share of pure gold in a piece out of 24 parts. We explain what each karat means, why countries favour different karats, how purity drives price, hardness, colour and resale value, and which karat suits saving and which suits wearing.
- Making charges and hallmarks: how they are calculated and how to negotiate themThe making charge is the only negotiable part of a gold price. We explain what it covers, how it is quoted per gram or as a percentage in different markets, what a hallmark is and who strikes it, and how to work out the real making charge in any offer in a minute and negotiate it with numbers.
- Selling scrap gold: what is deducted and why, and how to avoid losing moneyWhen you sell used gold the buyer pays its melt value less a deduction and never refunds the making charge. We explain every deduction one by one, how to compute what you will receive at today's price, when an exchange beats a sale, where to sell, and the mistakes that cost sellers the most.
- The gold pound and the Sovereign: weight, karat, price, and when a coin beats a barThe Egyptian gold pound is 8 grams of 21K, the British Sovereign 7.98 grams of 22K; both are priced by their fine-gold content plus a small premium. We explain how they differ, how they are priced and sold, how they compare with the Krugerrand, the Eagle and the Britannia, and when a coin is the better choice over a bar.
